Role Summary
The Senior Director, Commercial Forecasting and Competitive Intelligence will lead efforts to analyze the competitive landscape and provide strategic forecasts across Insmed’s pipeline and in-market products. This role helps anticipate market trends, understand competitive threats, and develop accurate forecasts that inform critical and strategic business decisions. The person will be a key member of the Commercial Effectiveness team and will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to optimize estimation and articulation of Insmed’s commercial opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Develop robust demand forecasts for both in-market and pipeline products, considering clinical development milestones, market access assumptions, and competitive landscapes
- Develop scenario-based models to account for various potential market conditions, competitive actions, and regulatory changes
- Provide and guide ongoing updates and adjustments to forecasts based on emerging data and market developments
- Prepare detailed reports and conduct clear presentations for senior leadership, summarizing market dynamics and forecast adjustments
- Lead the monitoring and synthesis of competitive data to provide actionable insights for senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- Communicate complex market and competitive intelligence findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Work with Commercial teams to provide insights that support strategic decision-making, including portfolio management and market entry planning
- Collaborate with Clinical, Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure forecast assumptions align with trial plans, milestones, launch plans, and commercial strategy
- Partner with Finance and Investor Relations to ensure competitive intelligence and forecast data are integrated into financial projections and external communications
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering or related discipline; 8+ years of leadership experience in developing product forecasts and market assessments within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
- Preferred: Advanced degree
- Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical data (sales, specialty pharmacy, payer, longitudinal patient-level data)
- Experience with advanced analytical modeling; experience with secondary data (e.g., APLD medical claims data, audited TRx data, epidemiology references)
- Strong blend of technical proficiency, business acumen, and experience informing business growth and opportunity
- Collaborative and influential leadership style with the ability to build strong partnerships across the organization
- High proficiency in MS Office (Excel/PowerPoint)
- Agile team player; able to adapt and execute based on evolving business needs with strong active listening skills
- Ability to extract and quickly process key information, summarize cross-functional needs, and provide targeted insights and recommendations
- Skilled at leading without authority in a cross-functional environment
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering or related discipline; advanced degree preferred
