Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute business development transactions (in-licensing/out-licensing, co-development/co-commercialization, research collaborations & platform partnerships, option-based deals, supply agreements, geographic licensing, joint ventures/structured transactions).
- Coordinate cross-functional diligence (R&D, technical operations/CMC, clinical, regulatory, legal, IP, finance, commercial, executive leadership).
- Develop business cases, valuation frameworks, competitive assessments, and transaction rationale.
- Structure and negotiate term sheets, LOIs, confidentiality agreements, and definitive agreements.
- Prepare presentations and recommendations for senior management, executive committees, and the Board.
- Build relationships with biotech, pharma, and academic partners; serve as key partner contact.
- Support alliance transition and post-signing governance.
- Partner across internal functions (R&D, development, manufacturing, commercial, finance, legal, IP, investor relations, corporate strategy).
- Synthesize scientific/clinical/strategic/operational/financial factors for internal alignment.
- Contribute to portfolio prioritization and strategic reviews; develop financial frameworks for transaction analysis.
Qualifications & Required Skills:
- 7+ years in biotech/life sciences business development (technology licensing/tech transfer preferred); alternate education/experience considered.
- Strong understanding of scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial dynamics.
- Proven track record negotiating/closing complex transactions with strategic judgment and cross-functional leadership.
- Ability to work with executive-level visibility and confidentiality.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree (MD, PhD, MBA, or JD); public company experience.
Compensation/Location:
- Base pay: $250,000β$315,000/year. Location: Cambridge, MA office.
