Remote friendly (South San Francisco, CA)
Responsibilities:
- Provide sell-side expertise: position assets, evaluate partnering strategies, and craft external narratives.
- Source and evaluate licensing/external innovation aligned with therapeutic strategy and pipeline priorities.
- Build relationships with biopharma executives, investors, bankers, advisors, founders, and KOLs to generate proprietary deal flow.
- Lead/contribute to BD workstreams: opportunity screening, strategic assessment, competitive landscape, valuation, diligence, and transaction support.
- Independently drive projects from identification through assessment, recommendation, diligence, and execution.
- Apply scientific/clinical judgment to assess asset quality, MoA, translational rationale, data packages, development/regulatory paths, and differentiation.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (scientific, clinical, commercial, financial, legal, IP) for diligence.
- Prepare materials (presentations, investment memos, valuations, diligence summaries) and support negotiations/term sheets.
- Monitor trends, readouts, competition, financing, and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (life sciences/medicine/business) preferred; MBA/PhD/MD/PharmD or equivalent strongly valued.
- 10+ years in BD/corporate dev/investment banking/VC/strategy/related; significant sell-side transaction advisory experience.
- Demonstrated experience with out-licensing, in-licensing, strategic partnerships, collaborations, acquisitions, and asset transactions.
- Established biopharma ecosystem network; strong ability to source opportunities and engage senior decision-makers.
- Strong drug development fluency (translational/preclinical/clinical strategy, trial design, regulatory, competitive differentiation).
- Lung disease experience (IPF/PAH/pulmonary fibrosis/broader fibrosis) highly preferred; metabolic disease experience plus.
Preferred:
- Prior BD/transaction execution role in biotech/pharma; hands-on partnering/valuation/diligence/transaction documentation.
