Senior Director, Accounting

Role: Senior Director, Accounting at Halozyme, overseeing cost accounting, COGS, revenue, and gross-to-net functions. Objectives include ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with U.S. GAAP, and optimizing processes. Responsibilities encompass leading accounting teams, managing monthly/quarterly/annual closes, providing technical guidance on commercial contracts and inventory valuation, partnering cross-functionally for financial insights, and strengthening internal controls and SOX compliance. Qualifications: Bachelor's in accounting (Master’s preferred), CPA active, 17+ years of progressive finance and technical accounting experience, including public company or regulated environments; at least 7 years in leadership roles, with specific expertise in pharma/biotech accounting—revenue recognition, inventory, manufacturing, and cost accounting. High-Value: experience with ERP systems (preferably NetSuite), internal controls, SOX, audit support, and scalable process design. Location: San Diego, CA.
