Position Summary
The Sr DevOps Engineer designs, implements, and operates secure, scalable Linux-based infrastructure across on-prem and cloud, with a focus on production Kubernetes/AWS EKS workloads.
Job Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain Linux infrastructure (on-prem and cloud).
- Automate infrastructure provisioning/config with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Manage/optimize AWS for performance, scalability, security, and cost.
- Implement monitoring/logging/alerting (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch).
- Architect, deploy, and operate production Kubernetes/AWS EKS (node groups, upgrades, multi-tenant isolation, cross-region DR).
- Lead EKS upgrade, security hardening, and DR strategy; act as senior resource for incidents.
- Manage Kubernetes networking (VPC CNI, ALB/NGINX/Traefik ingress).
- Implement IAM pod security and network policies.
- Configure/tune autoscaling (Cluster Autoscaler or Karpenter; HPA/VPA).
- Maintain Helm charts and GitOps pipelines (ArgoCD/Flux).
- Manage Docker builds/registries; deploy and support GitLab Runners on EKS.
- Support AWS RDS (MySQL, PostgreSQL) reliability/performance with data owners.
- Execute Linux patching and timely CVE/security updates.
- Participate in incident response, RCA, and recovery; collaborate cross-functionally; support on-call.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (CS/IT or related).
- 8+ years Linux SysAdmin/DevOps/SRE.
- 5+ years AWS (EC2, VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, CloudWatch).
- 5+ years hands-on production Kubernetes/AWS EKS (upgrades, networking, autoscaling).
- Python/Bash scripting/automation.
- Infrastructure as Code with Terraform; CI/CD (GitLab CI/CD) on Kubernetes/EKS.
- Docker, Helm, Kubernetes troubleshooting.
- Networking fundamentals and cloud security best practices.
- CKA expected or in progress.
Preferred Qualifications
- CKAD and AWS certifications.
- Karpenter, Kyverno, OPA/Gatekeeper, Falco; multi-cluster/multitenant EKS.
- AI-assisted DevOps automation (e.g., Claude/Cursor/OpenAI).
- Microservices, serverless, DevSecOps.
