Typical day / Responsibilities:
- Own the design and development of server-side plugins, integrations, and workflows on LIMS/ELN platforms (Sapio preferred) using Java and Python.
- Architect and build AI/GenAI-enabled solutions (LLM agents, RAG pipelines, prompt-engineered workflows) to streamline R&D informatics.
- Develop data pipelines and integrations between scientific instruments, LIMS/ELN systems, and enterprise data platforms; own end-to-end data modeling, transformation logic, and data quality validation.
- Serve as technical lead: define technical approach, conduct code reviews, and mentor developers.
- Partner with scientists, lab operations, and product owners to translate scientific requirements into scalable solutions.
- Evaluate and implement COTS platform capabilities (Sapio, Benchling, Dotmatics) before custom development.
- Design and develop REST APIs, webhooks, and middleware for interoperability across R&D systems.
- Use a data-first approach to analyze datasets, identify data quality issues, build dashboards/reporting, and provide actionable insights.
- Contribute to platform modernization (cloud migration, containerized deployments) and ensure GxP compliance where applicable.

- Proven AI/GenAI experience (LLM agents, prompt engineering, RAG, AI workflow automation; LangChain/LlamaIndex/Anthropic or OpenAI APIs preferred).
- Plus: Docker/Kubernetes and CI/CD (Jenkins/GitHub Actions); instrument integration (TetraScience/direct interfaces); data analytics/visualization tools (Spotfire/Tableau/Power BI/Jupyter).
