Role Summary

Senior Data Scientist in Global Finance Data Science Team responsible for delivering data science production processes to a high standard. Work within a global team to advance the data science/AI roadmap for J&J’s Global Finance function, delivering insights, reducing manual workload through automation, and enhancing user experience. Focus areas include machine learning and generative AI application to technical accounting use cases using data from SAP Hana, Datahub, and Datasphere. Ensure PoCs are production-ready with proper automation, data validations, and system/process integration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop data science solutions based on the needs of business/ finance stakeholders.
  • Build and adjust data engineering pipelines for large datasets from finance/ERP systems and automate data science processes.
  • Understand the nuances of accounting and finance data to apply it appropriately in ML/AI models.
  • Iteratively improve processes and models, test and document changes, and align them within the team.
  • Develop and deploy data science and AI solutions, including data processing, algorithm development, data visualization, and communication of insights to stakeholders.
  • Research and implement statistical and machine learning models, monitor model performance, and continuously improve existing models.
  • Collaborate with finance, commercial leaders, technology teams, and external partners to deliver end-to-end solutions with compliance and risk management.
  • Experience using accounting data within SAP data tables and understanding their use in accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of Python and cloud platforms such as AWS, Databricks, and Domino.
  • Ability to work independently and under time pressure, solving data issues in an explainable way.
  • Skilled in data visualization and dashboarding using Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques (e.g., regression, distributions, statistical tests).
  • Experience with end-to-end production deployment and Gen AI technologies (e.g., AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Joule).
  • Familiar with automated workflow tools (e.g., Alteryx) and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow); proficient in technical documentation (JIRA, Confluence).
  • Strong data analytics, attention to detail with business/finance logic, and ability to contextualize key business drivers for multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of Data Science/AI experience in an industry setting, preferably in Finance or Healthcare; or 5+ years accounting experience with advanced analytics and data handling.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Science, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Science, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or other quantitative/STEM field. Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
