Senior Data Architect, Scientific Data Platform

Role: Lead architect for scientific data discovery and access platform within Agilent's R&D division, focusing on defining and implementing the target architecture for data registration, search, and retrieval. Responsibilities: establish current and future state architectures; own schemas, contracts, and integration patterns for catalog and access layers; design pipelines for data ingestion, indexing, and querying; collaborate closely with engineering on implementation, review designs, and ensure performance targets. Qualifications: 8+ years in software or data engineering/architecture with experience in distributed systems; proven ownership of data catalog, search, or API data access system architecture; proficiency in SQL, data pipelines, and typed programming languages; and experience with AI tools in architecture work. Preferred: experience with data products for applications, laboratory informatics or regulated life sciences, architecture documentation, and cloud/hybrid deployment patterns.
