Senior Counsel, Patent Prosecution

Role: In-house Senior Patent Counsel supporting AbbVie's immunology portfolio, focusing on patent prosecution and IP strategy. Responsibilities: draft, file, and prosecute patents worldwide; develop IP strategies to enhance competitive positioning; advise R&D and business teams on patent matters; manage patent challenges and defenses in post-grant proceedings; conduct prior art searches and due diligence for business development. Requirements: JD from an accredited law school; bar admission and USPTO registration; 5+ years in patent law, with experience in pharmaceutical or biotech patent prosecution; technical background in small molecules, biologics, or related fields; strong legal, analytical, communication, and project management skills. Preferred: experience with pharmaceutical discovery and development. High-Value: pharmaceutical patent prosecution, biologics or small molecules, patent litigation and post-grant proceedings, global patent strategy, cross-functional collaboration. Work Setup: hybrid with 3+ days/week onsite; locations in Waltham MA, North Chicago IL, or South San Francisco CA.
