Senior Counsel - Legal Business Partner (U.S. Medical Affairs HIV)

Job Responsibilities
- Serve as primary legal business partner to USMA home office strategy and field medical teams, collaborating with Global Medical Affairs.
- Provide legal guidance for non-promotional scientific exchange, medical education, and engagements with healthcare providers/scientific stakeholders; ensure compliance with healthcare laws and company policies.
- Advise on FDA requirements and fraud/abuse and compliance matters (e.g., False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, OIG guidance, PhRMA Code) to identify/assess/mitigate risk.
- Support U.S. evidence-generation and research (investigator-initiated studies, collaborative research, advisory/insights programs, HEOR) with regulatory/ethical/internal governance adherence.
- Advise on legal risk for external engagement activities (advisory boards, congresses, publication planning, professional society/patient advocacy engagement, medical education programs).
- Review scientific/educational materials via the Medical Review Committee; advise on content (including digital), support data readouts/launches/congresses, and deliver training.
- Partner with Compliance, Privacy, Competition Law, Regulatory, Corporate, and other functions; monitor healthcare law/regulation/guidance and communicate implications.

Basic Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school + 8 years’ experience.
- Admitted to practice in at least one U.S. state (good standing) or eligible for in-house counsel registration/qualified legal credentials in geography of operations.

Preferred Qualifications (selected)
- 10+ years industry and/or law firm experience (biotech/pharma/therapeutics), preferably in-house.
- Strong U.S. healthcare/compliance knowledge (FDA, fraud/abuse, industry codes) and understanding of regulatory/IP/privacy/contract provisions.
- Experience supporting Medical Affairs (non-promotional exchange and field medical) and advising governance bodies (e.g., Medical Review Committees).

Compensation/Benefits
- Salary range: $243,100.00–$314,600.00. May be eligible for discretionary bonus, stock-based long-term incentives, paid time off, and company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
