Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Internal preparation and prosecution of patents.
- Provide patentability and freedom to operate advice.
- Support assets from preclinical development through global launches.
- Conduct IP due diligence in support of business development transactions.
- Provide IP support for collaboration agreements.
- Review proposed external disclosures.
- Support clients across multiple functional areas with strategic counsel to key stakeholders.
- Work closely with clients across functions in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
- Collaborate with in-house and outside attorneys to accomplish BMS objectives.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- J.D. (or equivalent) and admission to at least one state bar.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in chemistry or a related discipline.
- Registered to practice before the USPTO.
- 10+ years of patent law experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry or in private practice supporting such clients.
- Service-oriented focus; ability to work in cross-functional teams and drive results.
- Highest integrity and excellent judgment; ability to proactively assess business risk and communicate legal issues.
Preferred:
- Advanced degree and/or scientific research experience.
