Role Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive IP legal support for small molecule radiotherapy programs.
- Develop and implement IP strategies to protect innovations and support business goals.
- Prepare and prosecute patent applications (drafting, filing, managing responses to office actions globally).
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with R&D, regulatory, commercial, and others to achieve project milestones.
- Review and approve scientific/clinical publications.
- Advise internal clients on IP matters.
- Conduct strategic IP analysis and due diligence (analyze third-party patent portfolios).
- Perform freedom-to-operate and patentability analysis.
- Communicate and align with external collaborators/partners on global IP strategy.
- Provide transactional support for IP matters related to clinical trial agreements and licenses.
- Manage outside legal counsel globally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years small-molecule patent prosecution experience (pharmaceuticals preferred); mix of law firm and in-house preferred.
- Registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office.
- JD and admission to practice law in any US state/DC (California preferred).
- Degree in chemistry (advanced degree or radiopharmaceutical/peptide chemistry experience preferred).
- Experience with patent drafting, US/foreign prosecution, global IP portfolio management, and IP due diligence.
- Ability to independently oversee matters, instruct/work with patent professionals, manage outside counsel, and collaborate with research/business leads.
Compensation/Benefits (as listed):
- San Diego - RayzeBio - CA: $257,030 - $311,462; additional incentive cash/stock may be available.
