Role: Senior Counsel, Global Alliances Legal, supporting AbbVie's strategic collaborations with China-based pharma and biotech partners. Objectives include advising on and managing legal aspects of R&D partnerships across their lifecycle, focusing on China-related regulatory frameworks and U.S.-China legal policies. Responsibilities encompass providing strategic legal counsel on alliance governance, drafting and negotiating agreements, interpreting complex collaboration contracts, and advising on regulatory compliance, including China's HGR regulations, the BIOSECURE Act, and outbound investment rules. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teamsβR&D, business development, regulatory, IPβand external partners. Qualifications: JD degree, admitted to U.S. state bar, 5+ years (preferably 9+ years) of experience in life sciences transactions, alliance management, or regulatory advising, ideally with China-based collaborations and cross-border transactions. Preferred skills include Mandarin proficiency, scientific background, and deep knowledge of U.S.-China pharmaceutical regulations. High-value specifics: focus on global alliances in biopharma, with emphasis on China regulatory environment, complex licensing and partnership agreements, and strategic program development. Work setup requires in-office presence at least three days weekly in North Chicago, IL; Waltham, MA; or South San Francisco, CA.
