Senior Counsel, Global Alliance - China

Role: Senior Counsel, Global Alliances Legal, supporting AbbVie's collaborations with China-based pharmaceutical and biotech partners. Responsibilities: advise on legal, regulatory, and policy frameworks affecting cross-border R&D partnerships; interpret complex agreements across licensing, co-development, and supply; provide legal guidance on U.S.-China regulatory issues including HGR regulations, BIOSECURE Act, and outbound investment restrictions; develop training on relevant frameworks; collaborate with R&D, business development, and other functions to align legal strategies with portfolio goals; support negotiations and amendments for strategic collaborations. Qualifications: J.D., admitted to U.S. state bar; 5+ years (preferably 9+ years) in life sciences transactions, alliance management, or regulatory advising; experience with China-based pharma collaborations strongly preferred; substantive knowledge of U.S.-China legal/regulatory frameworks; Mandarin proficiency preferred; scientific education or interest; ability to work independently, collaborate across functions, and advise at senior levels.
