Senior Counsel, Global Alliances Legal
Responsibilities:
- Partner with Global Alliances and R&D leadership to align legal strategy with portfolio objectives across the product life cycle.
- Advise Aesthetics, Toxins and Eye Care teams on alliance/partnership matters across the pharmaceutical and device life cycle.
- Interpret and analyze complex strategic agreements (licenses, collaborations, other alliances) and communicate clear legal advice for R&D and commercialization.
- Draft, review, and negotiate licenses, collaboration, co-development/co-promotion, and other complex R&D agreements.
- Collaborate with Transactions Legal to evaluate, structure, and negotiate new Aesthetics, Toxins and Eye Care collaborations; support due diligence and integration planning.
- Advise business and legal leadership clearly to maximize the pipeline.
- Serve as a go-to resource for senior management and stakeholders on complex legal/business/technology issues.
Qualifications:
- J.D. required; must meet state professional licensing requirements.
- Large firm (Am Law 100) or in-house big Pharma/Life Sciences experience (preferably pharma).
- 5+ years relevant experience in life science/pharma transactions (global collaborations), advising on complex global collaborations, and/or advising on R&D of pharmaceuticals and/or aesthetics products.
- Scientific background preferred (or strong interest in biology/chemistry).
- Basic understanding of scientific, development, regulatory, and commercial concepts in early/late-stage programs.
- Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and drive successful business outcomes.
- Advanced legal analysis and communication skills; sound business judgment.
Work location:
- In-office at least 3 days/week at Abbott Park (North Chicago, IL) or AbbVie campuses (Irvine, CA or South San Francisco, CA).
