Role: Senior Counsel specializing in biotech patent law, responsible for developing and executing global IP strategies for Amgen’s therapeutic products, including biologics, RNA therapies, and cell-based treatments across oncology, inflammation, and rare diseases. Responsibilities: identify patentable inventions in collaboration with scientists, draft and prosecute patents worldwide, conduct prior art searches, analyze patents for freedom-to-operate opinions, perform IP due diligence for licensing and acquisitions, draft and negotiate IP provisions in transactional agreements, and support litigation or patent challenges. Requirements: JD or LL.M., admission to practice law in the U.S., registered before USPTO, with at least 6 years of biotech/IP law experience; preferred 10+ years, including patent agent background, and experience with nucleic acid therapeutics, biotech litigation, and foreign IP law. Qualifications: advanced degree in molecular biology or related field preferred, with strong legal drafting, analytical, and communication skills, plus leadership capability and ability to work across cross-functional teams globally.
