Role Summary
Senior Commercial Strategy & Planning Manager (New Product Planning) at Exelixis. Responsible for driving pipeline commercial analysis and strategic planning for the ADC franchise, providing cross-functional insights and leadership-facing recommendations to advance pipeline assets.
Responsibilities
- Primarily responsible for driving pipeline commercial analysis and strategic planning activities, with a focus on Exelixis’ growing Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) pipeline, with secondary responsibilities for supporting additional CSP activities
- Work cross-functionally with Commercial, Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Medical Affairs, Discovery, and Finance functions to generate defensible recommendations
- Drive data and insight-driven commercial analyses and project approaches to support pipeline strategy in the context of the ADC Franchise Team (FT). Inform decision making for ADC programs through the product lifecycle (development candidate nomination through Phase 3), including:
- Develop and provide oncology treatment and competitive landscape expertise in key solid tumors to inform program development decisions
- Support and drive cross-functional strategic planning activities including indication prioritization, combination planning, lifecycle management (LCM) and fast-to-market planning
- Lead Target Product Profile (TPP) development and refinement
- Provide commercial assessment of pipeline development opportunities, including market attractiveness, unmet need, and competitive dynamics
- Plan and execute primary and secondary market research to support commercial opportunity assessment and revenue forecast assumptions, as needed
- Develop patient-based revenue forecasts for potential indications to support business planning
- Deep dive assessments of companies and relevant marketed products and pipeline, including revenue forecasts, company financial analyses, disease and competitive landscapes, and market access and pricing insights
- Provide comprehensive competitive intelligence to inform pipeline strategy and competitive positioning:
- Monitor for competitor and disease landscape news, clinical developments, data releases, announcements, and other relevant disclosures
- Generate alerts of key developments for stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Attend relevant conferences and provide summaries of key presentations that contextualize data with clinical and scientific benchmarks
- Secondary responsibilities for supporting additional Commercial Strategy & Planning activities, including:
- Commercial analysis to support the strategic development of Exelixis’ small molecule and immuno-oncology pipeline assets, as needed
- Commercial due diligence and opportunity assessments to inform Business Development (BD) opportunities, as needed
- Support portfolio strategy and BD analyses and activities
- Determine the appropriate analyses required to answer key business questions and generate data driven recommendations
- Provide and ensure the interpretation of complex analytical information to include Primary and Secondary Data, Forecasting, Competitive Intelligence, Scenario Planning, and other relevant sources of information and analysis
- Develop and oversee execution of US and Global market research, including management of third parties
- Presentation of key deliverables to a broad range of stakeholders, including senior leadership
Qualifications
- BS/BA degree in related discipline and 5 years of related experience; or
- Advanced degree (Master’s and/or Ph.D) in related discipline and 3 years of related experience; or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous new product evaluation experience required
- Prior oncology experience highly desired with specialty product experience as a minimum
- Previous experience in life sciences strategy consulting or pharma/biotech analytics is highly desirable
- Previous experience in biopharma industry preferred
Skills
- Proficiency in scientific and clinical literature analysis, enabling quick assessment of clinical data and oncology markets
- Strong foundation in patient-based forecasting and quantitative modeling methodologies

Education
- BS/BA degree in related discipline and 5 years of related experience; or
- Advanced degree (Master’s and/or Ph.D) in related discipline and 3 years of related experience; or
