Responsibilities:
- Drive implementation of technical solutions and analytical strategies to enable drug substance production (off-line testing in labs or in-line/on-line via PAT).
- Select and implement analytical techniques (e.g., LC, GC, NMR, MS, XRD) to support chemical process development; generate data on mechanisms, kinetics, and process impurities.
- Provide technical leadership for analytical/biophysical characterization; ensure methods are technically sound, well developed, and fit-for-purpose.
- Transfer analytical methods from Product R&D; improve robustness, accuracy, precision and other ICH-aligned attributes.
- Demonstrate learning agility across chemistry, engineering, analytical and data sciences.
- Plan/manage short- and long-term activities; develop technical agendas/timelines; recommend resources; communicate progress and changes.
- Collaborate across development and manufacturing to deliver material/information for clinical trials and regulatory submissions across modalities.
- Coordinate instrumentation between projects; author/contribute to technical documents (SOPs, technology transfer docs, diagrams, submissions, patents, papers).
- Ensure alignment with development quality, regulatory, HSE, GLP and GMP requirements.

Basic Requirements:
- BS in relevant STEM field with >8 years experience in analytical characterization, or MS with >5 years.
- Experience with analytical characterization techniques (e.g., NMR, MS, IR, Raman, XRPD) for synthetic and/or biologic modalities.
- Authorized to work in the United States full-time; Lilly will not sponsor visas.

Additional Preferences:
- Analytical method development and technical transfer into manufacturing/control strategy development.
- Knowledge of chromatography (LC/GC) and spectroscopy (e.g., NIR, CD, OR); solid-state techniques (e.g., XRF, PSD, thermal analysis).
- Ability to drive/accept change; collaboration; persuasion/influence/negotiation; prioritize under ambiguity.
- Strong communication (oral/written), organizational, and leadership skills; cGMP knowledge/experience.
