Senior AI Engineer

Role: Senior AI Engineer in Bristol Myers Squibb's AI Venture Studio, focusing on designing and building AI-driven cloud-native applications and agentic AI products to transform patient outcomes. Responsibilities: develop backend services using Python/FastAPI or TypeScript/Node, integrate LLM APIs, AI agents, retrieval systems, and workflows; build knowledge and context infrastructure; develop secure, scalable, and governed AI solutions; operate agentic applications with frameworks like LangGraph; design retrieval, memory, and knowledge architectures; ensure platform reliability, observability, security, and automated deployment; lead technical architecture, validate MVPs for production readiness, and provide engineering standards and mentorship. Qualifications: bachelor’s or higher in CS, Engineering, or related field; 5+ years in software/cloud application development; proficiency in Python, FastAPI, or Node; experience with AWS cloud-native applications; expertise in AI-powered applications utilizing LLMs, retrieval, and agent frameworks; strong understanding of secure AI architecture, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code; familiarity with enterprise AI services (e.g., OpenAI, AWS Bedrock); excellent communication skills. Preferred: experience with MCP servers, knowledge architectures, multi-agent systems, AI observability, and working within life sciences or regulated industries. Work setup: hybrid or onsite at various US locations, with collaboration across cross-functional teams, supporting fast-paced agile cycles to accelerate AI solutions in pharma R&D, commercialization, and manufacturing.
