Senior Accountant β Corporate Accounting
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and record monthly journal entries, including operating expense accruals and other recurring close activities.
- Prepare and maintain account reconciliations and supporting schedules for assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items timely and accurately.
- Prepare and record period-end accruals for clinical trial activities, consultants, CROs, CMOs, and other R&D expenditures.
- Prepare and record operating expense accruals and other recurring period-end close entries.
- Partner with vendors and business functions to obtain supporting documentation, activity reports, and operational data for accruals.
- Analyze clinical trial activity, contractual commitments, vendor invoices, and operational data to develop accurate accrual estimates.
- Review vendor invoices for appropriate coding, documentation, and approval; review prepaid expenditures and ensure correct classification.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, aging items, and reconciling differences.
- Maintain prepaid expense schedules/amortization, fixed asset subledger/supporting schedules, and lease accounting schedules; review contracts to determine accounting treatment; monitor balances.
- Assist with preparation of financial reporting packages, supporting disclosure schedules, variance analyses, and audit support.
- Participate in internal controls and SOX compliance; identify process improvements; support cross-functional projects.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelorβs degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience in biotechnology/pharmaceutical/life sciences.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and supporting audits.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred
- Experience preparing/analyzing clinical trial accruals and R&D expense accounting.
- CPA or CPA candidate.
- Public accounting and/or publicly traded company experience.
- NetSuite or other large-scale ERP systems.
- Experience supporting internal control and SOX compliance.

US Salary Range
- $88,000 β $100,000.
