Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Set, direct, and control department and financial goals, budgets, and objectives for the assigned automation area.
- Lead the automation department to meet site/automation business strategies; accountable for cost center expenses, project budgets, and delivery of projects supporting plant/facility programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures; use sound design, early risk assessments, and fallback strategies to deliver effective outcomes for major projects.
- Maintain awareness of consequences (defects/failure modes) of design changes to established processes; mitigate risk with early assessments and fallback strategies.
- Recommend and implement automation strategies and controls to reduce costs, increase efficiencies, and drive world-class performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to define action plans, timelines, and budgets; manage/plan/assign automation resources for execution.
- Analyze market forces (customers, suppliers, competitors, technologies, government regulations) to identify trends and recommend responses; execute/direct design of products/processes/equipment/systems/facilities using advanced automation theories and techniques.
- Develop and manage staff (hiring, performance management, talent development, clear expectations).
Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering/Science or related field desired, or equivalent technical experience; advanced technical degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience: individual contributor building technical expertise and project management; progressively increasing responsibility as supervisor/department manager in Operations. Post-graduate degree may count toward experience.
- Business acumen and leadership experience required.
- DeltaV required.
- Pharmaceutical experience preferred.
- Change Management expert.
- Experience with large-scale manufacturing expansions and builds.
