Process Analytical Technology (PAT) Scientist (Technical-track)
Responsibilities
- Drive implementation of technical solutions and analytical strategies via PAT to enable drug substance production.
- Investigate feasibility of instruments for in-line monitoring; ensure methods are technically sound, well developed, and fit-for-purpose.
- Apply scientific concepts/methods across chemistry, PAT, and modeling & simulation.
- Support automation development connecting PAT tools and process data systems (e.g., synTQ or other systems).
- Plan and manage short- and long-term development activities; develop/review technical agendas and timelines; recommend resource allocation; communicate progress and propose changes.
- Collaborate with development and manufacturing to deliver material/information for clinical trials and regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate instrumentation across projects to enable equal tool usage.
- Author or contribute to technical documents (SOPs, technology transfer documents, process flow diagrams, regulatory submissions, patents, scientific papers).
- Ensure alignment with development quality, regulatory, HSE, GLP, and GMP requirements.
Basic Requirements
- B.S. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field.
- Experience using analytical equipment in a regulated industrial environment.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (no anticipated visa sponsorship).
Additional Preferences
- Experience with product development and technical transfer of analytical methods into manufacturing.
- Ability to drive/accept change; strong collaboration; persuasion/influence/negotiation.
- Prioritize multiple activities; manage ambiguity; strong oral/written communication, organization, and leadership.
Location/Work
- Initial: Lilly Technology Center, Indianapolis. Permanent: Lilly Medicine Foundry, Lebanon, Indiana. On-site, 8-hour days, 5 days/week; 0β10% travel.
Compensation/Benefits (as stated)
