Scientist II

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join Discovery Immunology’s Nonhuman Primate (NHP) In Vivo Pharmacology team. This hands-on, lab-based role will drive development and deployment of NHP in vitro and in vivo models to support Immunology drug discovery efforts, with significant cell biology and ex vivo expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
- Routine culture and maintenance of immortalized and primary cell cultures (especially NHP and human).
- Isolate primary human cells from tissue and whole blood.
- Work with a Principal Scientist to develop flow cytometry panels for immunophenotyping.
- Design, perform, and interpret in vitro experiments using human and NHP primary immune cells.
- Conduct experiments with high independence and initiative for routine methods.
- Independently schedule and prioritize workload across multiple tasks.
- Maintain detailed electronic documentation and contribute to final reports.
- Collaborate across groups and present findings to diverse audiences.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s + at least 5 years experience, or Master’s + at least 2 years experience.
- Experience with human tissue samples and isolating/characterizing cells (e.g., epithelial, fibroblast, endothelial, B cells, T cells, monocytes) via tissue digestion/dissociation; extensive primary cell culture and in vitro cell-based assays.
- Proficiency in qPCR, multicolor flow cytometry/FACS, ELISA/Luminex/MSD, proliferation/viability, cytotoxicity, and in vitro stimulation assays.
- Strong written/oral communication and presentation skills; electronic lab notebooks preferred.
- Statistical analysis and graphing software (Excel, FlowJo, GraphPad Prism).
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a matrixed organization.
