Position: Scientist I/II, Biologics Drug Product Development (North Chicago, IL)
Responsibilities:
- Independently design, execute and interpret critical experiments to answer scientific questions; modify experimental plan as required.
- Support development projects with hands-on laboratory experimentation, data generation, and analysis; support technical transfer and scale-up to manufacturing sites as needed.
- Learn, understand and master new experimental techniques; act as a resource/mentor.
- Innovate and implement new experimental protocols.
- Demonstrate high proficiency in field.
- Set and meet experimental and project timelines per CMC strategy.
- Organize and present scientific plans and data; maintain detailed electronic laboratory notebooks; compile reports/presentations.
- Contribute to publications, presentations, and patents.
- Read and apply relevant scientific literature; impact projects via lab and/or pilot plant activities.
Qualifications:
- Scientist II (required): BS + 7+ years or MS + 5+ years.
- Scientist I (required): BS + 5+ years or MS + 3+ years.
- Ability to independently design, execute and interpret critical experiments.
- Ability to learn and master new experimental techniques.
- Ability to multitask and work within timelines.
- Scientific writing and strong verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with biologics formulation development, in-use studies, and DP process development.
- Experience with sterile unit operations (freeze-thaw, mixing, filtration, filling, freeze-drying) development/characterization.
- Scale-down models, simulation, scale-up, and technology transfer.
- Hands-on biologics analysis/manufacturing (e.g., HPLC/UPLC, UV-Vis, CE-SDS, icIEF, HIAC, MFI, DLS, DSC).
- DoE, data analysis, and statistical software; knowledge of cGMP/regulatory guidance.
