Role Summary
The Scientific/Medical Lead, Hematology, Global Medical Affairs Oncology will provide scientific leadership and guide global medical affairs activities for advanced-stage molecules and pipelines. The role focuses on developing and executing medical strategy, generating evidence, publications, medical communications, and training, and supporting market access and reimbursement. Location: Boston, MA.
Responsibilities
- Provide scientific/clinical leadership to develop asset-specific medical strategy and deliverables, including data generation, analysis and interpretation; medical communications, publications, medical training, medical information, congress strategy, and thought leadership engagement.
- Develop deep understanding of oncology patient needs and focus activities to address them.
- Represent Medical Affairs at Global Product Team and Global Brand Team to incorporate clinician insights into clinical development and patient-centric planning.
- Facilitate cross-regional alignment on medical strategy and gather LOC feedback for development and lifecycle management plans.
- Contribute to asset strategy, clinical development program, and brand team strategic/tactical plans.
- Lead or support evidence generation for Phase 3B/4 studies and research including diagnostics; lead or support Investigator Initiated Studies (IISR).
- Lead and execute global advisory boards and communicate key findings across clinical development, medical affairs, and commercial teams.
- Support development and execution of global publication strategy and plans.
- Provide strategic and scientific guidance to internal training, congress planning, and company-sponsored symposia.
- Foster relationships with global cancer research organizations and institutions; manage interactions with key opinion leaders and HCPs; lead or support global KOL engagement plan.
- Build cross-functional relationships with global functions, GBTs, clinical development, regional functions, and LOCs.
- Represent Takeda Oncology at external engagements (congresses, scientific meetings, etc.).
Qualifications
- MD, PharmD or PhD
- 7+ years post-doctorate healthcare or related experience
- 5+ years Medical Affairs experience or related industry experience
- 2+ years budgetary and direct/indirect people management experience
- Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical industry dynamics and brand lifecycle understanding from cross-functional perspectives
- Experience in oncology and/or hematology-oncology preferred
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with proven collaborative ability
- Ability to work effectively in complex matrix environments and drive cross-functional decision-making
- Adaptability to fast-paced, changing technology environments
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, listening, judgment, analytical, and conflict-management skills
- Proven negotiation and influencing skills; ability to navigate conflicts diplomatically
- Proactive issue prediction and problem-solving abilities
- Experience across multiple regional/country markets and deep understanding of stakeholdersβ needs
- Experience managing budgets to meet targets
- Advanced PC skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
Travel Requirements
- Up to 25% domestic and international travel required
