Main Responsibilities:
- Serve as a senior scientific thought leader at the intersection of AI, computational science, and Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC), shaping scientific strategy and advancing CMC across development, scale-up, tech transfer, and Manufacturing Sciences.
- Lead expert guidance on how digital/computational/AI approaches accelerate CMC development, improve process understanding and control, strengthen robustness and decision-making, and increase probability of success across the product lifecycle.
- Define AI-enabled CMC scientific strategies and practical tactics by assessing emerging methods, platforms, partnerships, and innovations across process development, formulation, analytical sciences, process modeling, scale-up, tech transfer, manufacturing process monitoring, process robustness, and data-driven process optimization; partner with scale-up, tech transfer, and Manufacturing Sciences to improve speed, reliability, and knowledge transfer.
- Establish and maintain national/international thought leadership through publications, patents, collaborations, invited talks, and conference participation; build connections with academic, biotech, technology, pharma, and manufacturing groups in AI/process science/digital CMC.
- Deliver innovative scientific/technological solutions with creativity and independently influence direction and productivity across a matrixed R&D organization.
About You (Qualifications):
- Ph.D. in chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, computational science, data science, machine learning, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in academia, biotech, technology, pharma, or a manufacturing-focused environment.
- Strong track record in AI, computational tools, and CMC-related innovation; experience advising senior leaders and translating technical advances into strategic R&D and manufacturing impact.
