Regional Sales Director (RSD)
Key Responsibilities
- Lead regional launch planning and execution to ensure successful market entry and sustained product uptake.
- Translate national brand strategy into actionable regional business plans and field priorities.
- Lead team to achieve or exceed sales goals, market share targets, and key performance metrics.
- Monitor market dynamics, customer feedback, and competitive intelligence; adjust strategy in real time.
- Drive performance via data-driven decision making and disciplined execution.
Team Leadership / Coaching
- Recruit, onboard, develop, and retain top-performing territory managers.
- Lead, coach, and motivate a team of ~8β12 territory managers.
- Maintain strong disease state, clinical, and product knowledge.
- Evaluate territory manager performance and coach through regular field contact.
- Foster a high-performance culture (accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement).
- Build succession plans and talent pipelines.
Customer / Market Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with key healthcare providers, health systems, IDNs, and strategic accounts.
- Partner on customer interactions, access challenges, and account strategies.
- Support pull-through with IDNs, organized customers, and priority accounts.
- Share customer insights with internal stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Market Access, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Training, Operations, and HR for launch readiness.
- Provide field-driven input into brand planning and messaging.
- Collaborate with Area Sales Directors to share best practices.
- Support national meetings and launch planning.
Compliance / Operational Excellence
- Ensure activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal standards.
- Manage regional budgets/resources; maintain accurate forecasting, CRM utilization, and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years pharmaceutical/biotech sales experience.
- 3+ years people leadership in a district/regional manager role.
- Prior launch experience required; first-launch/startup biotech strongly preferred.
- Proven specialty sales success; exceeded performance goals.
- Strong preference: cardiovascular/nephrology/hypertension specialty markets.
- Demonstrated recruiting/developing talent; strong planning/analytical/coaching skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
- Travel extensively within region.

US Salary Range
- $180,000 - $215,000
