Role Summary

The Regional Patient Access Manager (RPAM) is responsible for field access support services and education to Healthcare Professionals to maximize patient access to Company products, communications with Specialty/Closed Door Pharmacies and HUB partners, and maintaining the integrity of the pharmacy distribution network within an assigned geography. The role includes providing payer coverage guidance, education on coverage issues and patient financial support programs, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize access and distribution efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and sustains relationships with pharmacies, physicians and other HCPs to help resolve coverage problems for prescriptions in process
  • Collaborates with field sales leadership, network pharmacies, market access, analytics, and operations to support patient access with payers
  • Provides training and education to HCPs on coverage policies, documentation requirements, appeals processes, and patient financial assistance programs
  • Introduces technology options for electronic Patient Access submissions and explains payer criteria, forms, and documentation requirements
  • Communicates effectively with field sales, corporate staff, HCPs, network pharmacies and HUB employees to resolve coverage and access issues
  • Identifies payer issues with National Account Directors and interfaces with local closed-door and LTC pharmacies
  • Communicates opportunities and challenges related to patient access to management
  • Shares payer coverage insights at internal reviews and sales meetings
  • Conducts Patient Access workshops and assists with new hire training as needed
  • Promotes a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Maintains and vets the pharmacy distribution network to ensure effective operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS/BA in related field with 6+ years of pharma/biotech commercial experience; 2+ years in specialty pharmacy/market access; CNS experience preferred; or
  • Masterβ€šΓ„Γ΄s degree/MBA with 4+ years of related experience or
  • PharmD or PhD with 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, PBMs, and government payers and their impact on product access
  • Excellent knowledge of patient support programs and reimbursement support
  • Strong understanding of prescription adjudication and payer criteria/Prior Authorization processes
  • Experience in other pharma/biotech functions (sales, management, marketing, managed markets) is a plus
  • Awareness of current industry issues and national health care system
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 60% (US-wide geographic dispersion)
  • Strong tools/process improvement mindset; effective cross-functional collaboration
  • Leadership capability and ability to lead multiple teams
  • Excellent computer, communication, problem-solving, and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and efficiency
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills
