Role Summary

The Regional Patient Access Manager (RPAM) is responsible for providing field access support and education to Healthcare Professionals, communicating with Specialty and Closed Door Pharmacies, and maintaining the integrity of Neurocrine Biosciences' pharmacy distribution network across an assigned geography. Acts as a subject matter expert on payer coverage policies and processes, and collaborates cross-functionally to optimize patient access to company products.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and sustains relationships with pharmacies, physicians and their office staff and other HCPs to help resolve coverage problems for prescriptions in process
  • Work cross-functionally with field sales leadership, network pharmacies, market access, and related departments to support patient access with specific payers
  • Provide training and education to HCPs on payer-specific coverage policies and documentation requirements, including patient financial assistance programs
  • Introduce technology options for electronic Patient Access submission and explain payer criteria, forms, processes, and related documentation requirements
  • Communicate compliantly with field sales, HCPs, network pharmacies and HUB employees to resolve coverage and patient access issues
  • Identify and communicate payer issues with National Account Directors
  • Interface with local closed-door and LTC pharmacies providing support and education
  • Communicate opportunities and challenges related to patient access to management
  • Present insights into payer policies at internal reviews and regional meetings
  • Conduct Patient Access workshops during POA meetings and assist with new hire training as needed
  • Promote a diverse and inclusive environment free from discrimination
  • Uphold the companyโ€šร„รดs pharmacy distribution network through vetting and monitoring of pharmacies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in related field AND 6+ years of pharma/biotech commercial experience, with 2+ years in specialty pharmacy/market access; CNS experience preferred. Other pharma/biotech roles considered
  • Masterโ€šร„รดs degree or MBA preferred AND 4+ years of related experience OR
  • PharmD or PhD AND 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, PBMs and government payers
  • Excellent working knowledge of patient support programs and reimbursement processes
  • Strong understanding of prescription adjudication and prior authorization processes
  • Experience across pharma/biotech functions (sales, management, marketing, managed markets)
  • Current issues awareness in the pharmaceutical industry and health care system
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 60% (geographically dispersed across the US)
  • Strong tools and process improvement mindset; leadership ability to guide teams
  • Excellent computer, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and efficiency; strong project management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cross-functional collaboration
