Role Summary

The Regional Patient Access Manager (RPAM) is responsible for providing field access support services and education to Healthcare Professionals to maximize patient access to company products and accelerate time to treatment. This role also communicates with Specialty Pharmacies, Closed Door Pharmacies, and HUB partners to support Neurocrine Biosciences marketed products in the U.S., and maintains the integrity of the pharmacy distribution network through vetting and network management. The RPAM serves as a subject matter expert on payer coverage policies and processes, works cross-functionally with field sales, market access, and operations, and continuously improves processes and best practices for distribution efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and sustains relationships with pharmacies, physicians, and other HCPs to resolve coverage problems for prescriptions in process
  • Collaborates with field sales leadership, network pharmacies, market access, commercial analytics, and operations to support patient access with specific payers
  • Provides training and education to HCPs on payor-specific coverage policies, documentation requirements, appeals processes, and patient financial assistance programs
  • Introduces and explains electronic Patient Access submission options and payer criteria, assisting with forms, PA, LMNs, appeals, and related coverage issues
  • Communicates effectively with field sales, corporate offices, HCPs, network pharmacies, and HUB employees to resolve coverage and patient access issues
  • Identifies payer issues with National Account Directors and interfaces with local closed-door and LTC pharmacies
  • Reports opportunities and challenges related to patient access to management
  • Presents insights into payer policies at internal reviews and sales meetings
  • Conducts Patient Access workshops during POA meetings and assists with new hire training as needed
  • Promotes a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Maintains and vets the companyโ€šร„รดs pharmacy distribution network to ensure effective and efficient operations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in related field and 6+ years of pharma/biotech commercial experience, with 2+ years in specialty pharmacy/market access; CNS experience preferred, or
  • Masterโ€šร„รดs degree or MBA with 4+ years of related experience, or
  • PharmD or PhD with 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, PBMs, and government payers
  • Excellent knowledge of patient support programs and reimbursement processes
  • Understanding of the prescription adjudication process and payer criteria
  • Ability to travel up to 60% overnight; roles dispersed across the US
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment and lead multiple teams
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical thinking, and project management skills
