Role Summary

The Regional Patient Access Manager (RPAM) is responsible for providing field access support and education to Healthcare Professionals to maximize patient access to Neurocrine Biosciences products, communicating with Specialty Pharmacies, Closed Door Pharmacies, and HUB partners, and maintaining the integrity of the pharmacy distribution network within an assigned geography. The role serves as a subject matter expert on payer coverage policies and works cross-functionally with field sales, market access, and operations to support patient access and coverage requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and sustains relationships with pharmacies, physicians, and other HCPs to help resolve coverage problems for prescriptions in process
  • Collaborates with field sales leadership and related teams to support patient access with specific payers
  • Provides training and education to HCPs on payer coverage policies, documentation requirements, appeals processes, and patient financial assistance programs
  • Introduces technology options for electronic Patient Access submissions and supports related documentation and case resolution
  • Communicates compliantly with field sales, corporate staff, HCPs, network pharmacies, and HUB employees to resolve coverage and access issues
  • Identifies payer issues and communicates with National Account Directors and other stakeholders
  • Interfaces with local closed-door and LTC pharmacies to provide support and education
  • Reports opportunities and challenges related to patient access to management
  • Presents payer policy insights at internal reviews and sales meetings
  • Leads Patient Access workshops and assists with new hire training as needed
  • Supports a diverse and inclusive environment free from discrimination
  • Maintains and vets the companyโ€šร„รดs pharmacy distribution network for integrity and efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in related field and 6+ years of pharma/biotech commercial experience, with 2+ years in specialty pharmacy/market access; CNS experience preferred; other pharma/biotech experience acceptable
  • Masterโ€šร„รดs degree or MBA preferred and 4+ years of related experience
  • PharmD or PhD and 2+ years of related experience
  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, PBMs, and government payers and their impact on product access
  • Excellent knowledge of patient support programs and reimbursement / financial assistance programs
  • Strong understanding of prescription adjudication and payer criteria
  • Ability to communicate payer coverage criteria and prior authorization processes
  • Experience across pharma/biotech functions (sales, management, marketing, managed markets) is a plus
  • Awareness of current issues in the pharmaceutical industry and health care system
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 60% (regional US coverage)
  • Geographically dispersed across the US
  • Strong tools and process improvement focus; ability to work across teams and lead others
