Role Summary
The Regional Field Leader, Associate Director oversees a regional team within the US Kidney Business Unit, managing up to 10 Kidney Territory Account Managers to educate nephrologists and kidney centers in pre-launch settings with a shift to product education, account management, and demand generation post-approval. This role reports to an Area Field Leader and requires residence within the region with travel as needed.
Responsibilities
- Manage regional team of KTAMs including recruiting, hiring and retaining a high performing team that drives results while living the Vertex values
- Establish clear business plans, metrics, and goals for the region and motivate the team to deliver results
- Support business goals while focusing on patients by leveraging data analytics and field insights and providing strategic guidance to direct reports
- Guide timely and appropriate management of account and business territory plans, supporting the field team in establishing and pulling through future approved products within the geographic area
- Understand interdependencies within centers/accounts and build informed, long-term account relationships
- Work closely with internal cross-functional stakeholders, including Marketing, to shape approaches that drive performance
- Create a positive, collaborative team culture, coaching KTAMs to develop goals that positively impact patient outcomes
- Partner compliantly with other field team members and headquarter colleagues to analyze and address customer needs, market dynamics, and trends that support brand objectives
- Ensure achievement of forecast by optimizing team performance through coaching, support, development, and fostering a winning culture
- Model ethics and integrity to support a culture of compliance and earn trust with external stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals in sales, marketing, or equivalent
- 3+ years of supervisory/management experience
- Experience in strategic account management, leading teams navigating centers of care in specialty or rare disease environments
- Nephrology and competitive selling experience highly desired
- Experience launching in specialty care or rare diseases preferred
- Strong teamwork and collaboration
- Creative problem-solving and escalation of issues as needed
- Understanding of legal, regulatory, and compliance environment; ability to model expected behavior and influence policy
Other Requirements
- Completion of training, background screens, drug testing and vaccinations as required
- Must live and work within the territory, with possible requirement to reside near a major airport
- Valid driverβs license
- Travel up to 80% of the time and work after hours as needed
