Role Summary
The Regional Field Leader, Associate Director oversees a designated region within the US Kidney Business Unit, managing a team of up to 10 Kidney Territory Account Managers (KTAMs). The role focuses on educating nephrologists and Kidney centers of care in a pre-launch setting, shifting to product education, account management, and demand generation post-approval. The role requires residence within the region and willingness to travel regularly.
Responsibilities
- Manage regional team of KTAMs including recruiting, hiring and retention to drive results while upholding Vertex values
- Establish clear business plans, metrics, and goals for the region and motivate the team to deliver results
- Support business goals while prioritizing patients by leveraging data analytics and field insights and providing strategic guidance
- Guide timely management of account and territory plans, supporting field efforts for future products within the area
- Understand interdependencies within centers/accounts and build informed, long-term account relationships
- Work with internal cross-functional stakeholders, including Marketing, to shape approaches that drive performance
- Create a positive, collaborative team culture and coach KTAMs to develop goals that improve patient outcomes
- Partner with field team members and headquarter colleagues to address customer needs, market dynamics, and trends
- Ensure achievement of forecast by optimizing team performance through coaching, support, and development
- Model ethics and integrity to support a culture of compliance and earn trust with external stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals in sales, marketing, or equivalent
- 3+ years of supervisory/management experience
- Experience in strategic account management and leading teams in centers of care within specialty or rare disease environments
- Nephrology and competitive selling experience highly desired
- Experience launching in specialty care or rare diseases preferred
- Strong teamwork and collaboration
- Creative problem-solving abilities and effective escalation when barriers arise
- Understanding of legal, regulatory, and compliance environments and ability to model compliant behavior

Other Requirements
- Completion of training, background screens, drug testing, and vaccinations as required
- Must live and work within the territory and close to a major airport if needed
