Role Summary
The Regional Business Leader, Sleep Disorders is responsible for executing regional business strategies to launch a first-in-class orexin therapy for narcolepsy type 1. This leadership role involves building and managing a sales team to achieve or exceed company objectives, implementing priorities, and driving strong execution to establish the company’s reputation in a developing therapeutic area.
Responsibilities
- The Regional Business Leader leads compliant execution of business strategies to deliver or exceed regional and area sales expectations.
- Recruits, hires, and coaches a team of sales representatives to deliver exceptional sales performance.
- Translates the broader vision to the team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on results and accountability; removes barriers and drives a solution-oriented mindset;
- Fosters learning and growth, building capabilities and development opportunities in partnership with Human Resources and Commercial Learning & Development.
- Provides consistent performance expectations and ongoing feedback, using measurable outcomes and actionable development plans to prepare talent for increased responsibility.
- Prioritizes field coaching to elevate selling skills and territory management; models compliance with SOPs and Takeda’s speak-up culture.
- Implements marketing strategies and plans at the regional level, managing resources (including speaker programs) to meet objectives.
- Develops and executes the regional sales plan and quarterly representative sales plans to meet objectives.
- Analyzes regional and territory performance to identify growth opportunities and improve effectiveness.
- Leads strategic allocation and use of the sales budget to drive growth.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of key regional KOLs, top HCPs, sleep centers, institutions, and IDNs.
- Gains command of the payor landscape with reimbursement insights to grow the business.
- Collaborates with field partners (patient services, medical, managed markets, etc.) to achieve goals.
- Plans and conducts POA/launch meetings aligned with marketing plans and programs.
- Leverages AI and digital tools to improve region and territory strategy and results.
- Communicates consistently across the RBL team, ASD, sales leadership, and internal partners to share insights and relay direction.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree – BS/BA
- 5+ years of management-level experience in pharmaceutical/biologic/biotech/medical device sectors with leadership or equivalent roles
- Prior experience as a pharmaceutical sales representative with proven selling success and healthcare industry knowledge
- Strong business and strategic planning skills and adaptability to market changes
- Proven ability to coach, delegate, and motivate a sales team with timely feedback
- Ability to analyze complex data to develop strategic actions
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint
- Comfort with emerging technologies and openness to AI-enabled processes
- Residence in or near the assigned geography
- Preferred:
- MBA or Master’s Degree
- 3+ years of people leadership experience
- Experience selling or leading teams in the rare disease space
- Sleep Disorders experience
- Pharmaceutical product launch experience

- Travel 50-75% to support the region, including overnights
