Role Summary

The Regional Business Leader, Sleep Disorders, is responsible for executing business strategies to launch a potentially novel, first in class orexin therapy in a rare neurological sleep disorder, narcolepsy type 1. This role involves building and leading a team of sales representatives to ensure that sales performance meets or surpasses company objectives. The incumbent will hire, lead, and develop the team to maximize sales results and support a new product launch in a developing therapeutic area for Takeda.

Responsibilities

  • Lead compliant execution of business strategies to deliver or exceed sales expectations at regional and area levels
  • Recruit, hire, and coach a team of sales representatives to deliver strong sales performance
  • Translate vision to the team and foster a high-performance culture with accountability and development
  • Eliminate barriers and drive a solution-oriented mindset; balance long-term strategy with immediate results
  • Foster learning and growth, build capabilities, and coordinate development opportunities with HR and Commercial Learning & Development
  • Provide consistent performance expectations and ongoing feedback through measurable outcomes and coaching
  • Prioritize field coaching to elevate selling skills and territory management; promote compliance with SOPs
  • Implement marketing strategies and plans at the regional level, including speaker programs
  • Develop and execute region and representative sales plans; monitor progress quarterly
  • Analyze region/territory performance to identify growth opportunities and improve effectiveness
  • Strategically allocate and utilize the sales budget to drive growth
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of key region KOLs, top HCPs, Sleep Centers, institutions, and IDNs
  • Understand the payor landscape and leverage access/reimbursement insights to grow the business
  • Collaborate with field partners to achieve organizational goals
  • Plan and conduct POA/launch meetings aligned with marketing plans
  • Leverage AI and digital tools to improve regional strategy and results
  • Communicate consistently across RBL team, ASD, sales leadership, and internal partners to share insights and align direction

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree – BS/BA
  • Required: 5+ years of management-level experience in pharmaceutical, immunology, biologic/biotech, or medical device industries with leadership responsibilities
  • Required: Prior experience as a pharmaceutical sales representative with proven selling success
  • Required: Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills to identify opportunities and adapt to market conditions
  • Required: Ability to coach, delegate, and motivate a sales team with timely feedback
  • Required: Ability to analyze complex data to develop strategic actions
  • Required: Strong communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation
  • Required: Proficiency in MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint
  • Required: Comfort with emerging technologies and openness to AI-enabled processes
  • Required: Must reside in or near the assigned geography
  • Preferred: MBA or Master’s Degree
  • Preferred: 3+ years of people leadership experience
  • Preferred: Experience selling or leading teams in the rare disease space
  • Preferred: Sleep Disorders experience
  • Preferred: Pharmaceutical product launch experience
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License
