Role Summary
The Regional Business Leader, Sleep Disorders, leads a team of sales representatives to execute business strategies and launch a first-in-class orexin therapy for narcolepsy type 1. This role is responsible for hiring, developing, and coaching the sales team to achieve or exceed company objectives, and for driving regional strategy, market access, and cross-functional collaboration to maximize sales results.
Responsibilities
- Lead compliant execution of business strategies to deliver or exceed regional and area sales expectations.
- Recruit, hire, and coach a team of sales representatives to deliver exceptional sales performance.
- Translate vision to the team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on results, accountability, and development; remove barriers and drive a solution-oriented mindset.
- Foster learning and growth, build capabilities, and provide ongoing development opportunities in partnership with HR and Commercial Learning & Development.
- Provide consistent expectations and ongoing feedback through performance management with measurable outcomes and actionable development plans.
- Prioritize field coaching to elevate selling skills and territory management; exemplify compliant behavior and adherence to SOPs.
- Implement marketing strategies and plans at the regional level, managing resources including speaker programs to meet objectives.
- Develop and execute region and representative sales plans with quarterly objectives; analyze performance to identify growth opportunities.
- Allocate and utilize the sales budget to drive business growth.
- Maintain deep knowledge of regional KOLs, top HCPs, sleep centers, institutions, and IDNs; manage payer landscape and reimbursement insights.
- Collaborate with field partners (patient services, medical, managed markets, etc.) to achieve goals.
- Plan and conduct POA/launch meetings aligned with marketing plans.
- Leverage AI and digital tools to improve region/territory thinking and results.
- Communicate consistently with the RBL team, ASD, sales leadership, and internal partners to share insights and relay direction.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree – BS/BA
- 5+ years of management-level experience in pharmaceutical, immunology, biologic/biotech, or medical device industries (e.g., district management, specialty account management, marketing management, training, product management) or the equivalent.
- Prior experience as a pharmaceutical sales representative with a proven track record in selling and understanding the healthcare industry
- Demonstrated business and strategic planning skills to identify opportunities and adapt to market changes
- Demonstrated ability to coach, delegate, and motivate a sales team with timely feedback
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data to develop strategic and actionable plans
- Strong communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation
- Proficiency in MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint
- Comfort with emerging technologies, adaptability to digital tools, and openness to AI-enabled processes
- Must reside in or within close proximity to assigned geography
Preferred:
- MBA or Master’s Degree
- 3+ years of people leadership experience
- Experience selling or leading teams in the rare disease space
- Sleep Disorders experience
- Pharmaceutical product launch experience
- Valid Driver’s License
