Role Summary

Regional Associate Director (RAD) for US Field Medical Cardiovascular – East Region leads a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) focused on cardiovascular diseases, ensuring regional medical needs are identified and addressed. The RAD oversees MSL activities to establish frequent, timely engagements with Thought Leaders and other healthcare providers aligned with medical strategies to discuss safe and appropriate use of approved products, and to respond to unsolicited medical questions according to company guidance. The RAD collaborates with Medical, Marketing, and Sales to align MSL work with medical plans and compliance, and provides input on resource needs and cross-functional strategy, including support for CRO-sponsored and investigator-initiated research.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee regional MSLs to identify disease- and product-related medical needs; ensure MSLs establish frequent interactions with Thought Leaders and HCPs aligned with medical strategies and safe use of products; ensure timely responses to unsolicited medical questions.
  • Participate in Field Medical Leadership meetings; provide clear direction to the team; translate FM objectives into region-specific performance objectives and monitor progress.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Medical, Marketing, and Sales; direct MSL activities within legal and compliance policies; support cross-functional collaboration and provide input on resource needs and strategy.
  • Maintain engagement with regional HCP experts to gather insights; train MSLs in planning and conducting scientific interactions; ensure timely, accurate, fair, and balanced medical communications.
  • Manage MSLs to support CRO-sponsored, BMS-sponsored, and Interventional and Non-Interventional Research studies; identify sites, facilitate patient recruitment, and guide investigator collaboration; ensure Pharmacovigilance procedures are understood and followed; support investigator-sponsored research submissions as needed.
  • Oversee MSL performance assessments; provide coaching and development plans; ensure new hires receive training and ongoing development; promote BMS values and compliance with Codes and FDA regulations; ensure Adverse Event reporting awareness.

Qualifications

  • Terminal doctoral degree, MD, PharmD, or PhD, preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cardiovascular disease area, including key scientific publications.
  • Clinical experience in Cardiology with a broad medical background.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years working in a clinical or pharmaceutical environment. Minimum of 5 years field medical experience preferred.
  • Leading and working in cross-functional teams and initiatives; proven track record managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Coaching and mentoring within a geographically disbursed field medical organization.
  • Working in a highly matrix environment, ability to navigate and lead in an ambiguous environment.
  • Leading and executing autonomously.
  • Understanding of clinical research principles.
  • Understanding of the US Healthcare system, the pharmaceutical industry and clinical and health economic practices in the US.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Travel required, including frequent travel to PPK home office.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to effectively communicate in spoken and written word.

Additional Requirements

  • Position is field based; RAD will be required to live in the territory which they manage or within 50 miles of the border.
