About the Role
Rare Disease Business Manager (RDBM) driving sales and territory growth for narcolepsy type 1. Collaborate with the Regional Business Leader and cross-functional, customer-facing teams to educate healthcare providers (HCPs) and support patient access to a new therapeutic option following federal approval. Build relationships with targeted HCPs/accounts and generate demand through clinical education on the product, orexin system, and narcolepsy type 1.
How you will contribute
- Results-focused sales execution to achieve monthly/quarterly/annual goals.
- Provide exceptional disease state/product knowledge and selling skills to support product education and demand.
- Implement sales/marketing plans using approved, on-label materials; manage territory business activities and advance diagnosis/treatment of NT1.
- Engage specialty customers (sleep specialists, neurologists, pulmonologists, sleep centers, clinic staff) to educate on approved Takeda orexin therapies.
- Analyze business trends using data to identify opportunities and tailor strategies.
- Use strong communication and CRM to document accounts, create pre-call plans, and record post-call activities.
- Manage a territory budget per compliance policies.
- Partner with internal teams (Patient Access, Market Access, Marketing) and support sales/marketing feedback loops.
- Maintain high ethical/customer satisfaction standards; adhere to Takeda compliance policies and applicable laws.
Expected skills (Required)
- Bachelorโs degree (BS/BA).
- 3+ years successful pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device selling (or relevant clinical/industry experience); OR 2+ years successful selling experience at Takeda.
- Excellent verbal/written communication; navigate complex selling/influence decision makers.
- Business acumen, strategic planning, territory planning/account management; ability to interpret analytical data.
- Collaborative matrix work; payer access/reimbursement understanding at territory/regional/state levels.
- Adaptability; learning agility to apply clinical expertise compliantly.
- Reside within territory or close proximity.
Travel
- Drive/fly to accounts; occasional business meetings; overnight travel up to 25โ50%.
Training
- Mandatory product training with written/oral exams; during training may be classified non-exempt/eligible for overtime; after passing, transition to exempt status.
