Your Role: Quality Control Manager, Microbiology & Environmental Monitoring
Responsibilities:
- Lead daily operations of the QC Microbiology group; prioritize testing, resolve issues, and implement efficiency/quality improvements.
- Supervise, coach, and develop team members (performance management, feedback, career planning).
- Manage quality systems: deviations, investigations, CAPAs, change controls, controlled documents, and testing records; ensure documentation and regulatory compliance.
- Interpret and implement regulatory requirements by developing/reviewing/revising SOPs and testing procedures.
- Provide technical expertise in microbiological assays and environmental monitoring; support troubleshooting, method improvements, and assay optimization.
- Lead/participate in cross-functional projects (e.g., product transfers, R&D, process improvements).
- Manage resources (budgeting, staffing, lab operations) and ensure training/qualification.
- Maintain regulatory knowledge to support internal/external audits; uphold safety and quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline (advanced degree preferred).
- 3+ years of leadership experience in a microbiology or QC laboratory.
- Strong microbiology/assay and environmental monitoring knowledge.
- Experience in regulated environments (USDA, FDA, cGMP).
- Ability to manage teams, prioritize work, and deliver results; strong quality systems knowledge (deviations, CAPAs, change control).
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing larger teams/multiple units.
- Experience with product transfers, method optimization, or R&D.
- Budgeting/resource planning experience.
- Cross-functional project leadership and continuous improvement.
- Proven team development success.
