Role Summary

QC-Environmental Monitoring Technician at site-based Redmond, WA. Responsible for routine sampling of facility water, air, and surfaces in controlled environments, including ISO classified cleanrooms, supporting GMP manufacturing activities. Travel between Redmond and Seattle facilities as applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform process and facility Environmental Monitoring: Active/passive viable air sampling, surface sampling, and airborne particulate monitoring.
  • Collect water samples (city, RO, DI, Milli-Q, WFI, etc.) from various valve locations throughout the facility.
  • Maintain EM equipment and contribute to routine EM trending and trending summary reports.
  • Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) electronic notebooks, as needed.
  • Order, inventory, stock supplies, clean lab spaces, ship samples, as needed.
  • May perform microbiological lab support activities (micro plate release, Gram stains, plate reads, etc.) with additional training.
  • Ensure proper aseptic technique during testing of controlled environments and utility systems.
  • Operate in compliance with site quality and safety guidelines; collaborate with team to complete tasks timely.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with changing priorities and attend mandatory trainings.
  • Conduct investigations and perform other duties as required by supervision; collaborate with QA, Manufacturing, Materials, Facilities/Engineering to meet timelines.
  • Assist in procedure and job aide document revisions; provide support during routine and emergency facility activities.
  • Identify gaps and contribute to laboratory improvements; participate in investigations, deviations, OOS, and CAPAs.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, kneel, crouch, twist, walk, bend, stoop, push/pull, and reach as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or completion of college-level life science courses required.
  • Good interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail.
  • Strong data management skills and data integrity adherence; proficient with computers and data entry.
  • Ability to work independently and with others; ability to interpret analytical/technical data.
  • Willingness to learn regulatory requirements (ICH, CFR, FDA) related to environmental monitoring.
  • Hand-eye coordination; ability to wear PPE for ISO-8/7/5 environments as required.
  • Ability to use cleaning/disinfectant agents; stand or sit for long periods (8+ hours).
  • Exposure to medium noise levels; microbiology lab experience and cGMP/quality control experience preferred.
