Role Summary
Project Manager, Research supporting early-stage research projects within the New Jersey research organization. Collaborates with project leads and program management to enhance research operations, build and update development timelines, and streamline cross-functional communication from Discovery through IND submission. Deeply embedded within project teams to proactively identify and respond to team needs, manage timelines, and ensure alignment across the organization.
Responsibilities
- In close collaboration with project leads and teams, define project scope, establish goals and timelines, articulate clear project plans and decision-making processes, and monitor progress towards objectives for early-stage research programs, ensuring alignment with overall company goals
- Maintain project timeline worksheets and associated records
- Serve as the central point of contact for research project leads, program management colleagues, and leadership for all early-stage project timelines
- Facilitate collaboration and coordination among various teams involved in early-stage research, including research scientists and project leads, external collaborators, vendors, CROs, academic institutions, and other Insmed functions
- In partnership with project leads and program management, schedule quarterly program update meetings, collate slide decks, record and share detailed meeting and discussion notes
- Provide timely and transparent updates on project progress, priorities, and any strategic shifts to collaborating teams, program management and leadership
- Ensure electronic notebook record and technical report readiness to enable smooth IND development process
- Continuously and proactively evaluate project workflow efficiencies, identify areas for improvement, and support ongoing improvement efforts
- Proactively identify potential risks, gaps, and challenges in research projects, develop mitigation strategies with expert input, and escalate critical issues for timely resolution
- Support the planning and forecasting of resources and budgets associated with early-stage research programs
- In close collaboration with program management team ensure timely update of dashboards and other key tools to ensure cross-functional alignment on goals, objectives, and strategy
- Support the program management designee on Global Asset Team (GAT) as needed to ensure smooth transition from early-stage research to GAT teams
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelorโรรดs degree in a life science, physical science, or engineering discipline
- Knowledge of early-stage research processes (e.g., basic research, discovery biology, translational science)
- At least 3 years of experience conducting laboratory benchwork in an industry setting
- Outstanding organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills
- Communication and Organization: Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills; must be exceptionally self-motivated and independent
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint
Preferred
- Masterโรรดs or PhD in a relevant scientific field
- 5+ years of experience conducting laboratory benchwork in an industry setting
- Project Management Tools: Proficiency with relevant project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheets)
- PMP or similar certification is a plus
