A Typical Day In The Role Might Look Like
- Perform process development for pre-clinical and clinical processes
- Document experiments, results, and findings in an electronic laboratory notebook
- Read and understand scientific literature and technical documentation; execute experimental plans to verify literature findings; prepare comparisons of internal data to literature for manager review
- Maintain instruments and troubleshoot instrumental/experimental problems
- Develop technology and automation to increase process throughput and efficiency of preclinical manufacturing; support improvement initiatives
- Present work at group and department meetings
- Build relationships within the subgroup; may train peers and indirectly lead, guide, and assist co-op students/interns; proactively assist others in executing experiments and know when to ask peers for help

Qualifications
- Bachelorโ€™s and/or Masterโ€™s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, or Biochemistry
- 0โ€“3 yearsโ€™ experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
- Strong fundamental understanding of protein purification and technology transfer principles (plus)

Required/Preferred Skills & Experience (as stated)
- Downstream development experience (plus)
- Experience with protein purification/downstream equipment (plus): Akta Avant, Akta Pilot, Akta Process Skid, Disc Stack Centrifuge, depth filtration, TFF/normal flow filters, chromatographic columns, HPLC/UPLC, UF/DF skid, laminar flow hood, chemical fume hood
- Experience with Empower, Unicorn, JMP, LIMS, PI Historian (plus)
- Robotic liquid handlers, Raman spectroscopy and/or software programming (plus)
