Key Responsibilities:
- Function as a principal investigator, generating original technical ideas and search/development strategies.
- Generate new scientific proposals and lead those efforts.
- Anticipate and critically evaluate scientific or regulatory advances/competitive threats; respond with appropriate strategies.
- Independently responsible for project science across one or more project teams.
- Primary author of publications, presentations, regulatory documents, and/or primary inventor of patents.
- Present at leading scientific conferences.
- Adhere to corporate standards for code of conduct, safety, handling of materials (controlled drug and radioactive compounds), GxP compliance, and animal care.
- Mentor a team and evaluate performance.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: MS in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field, plus 3 years as a drug product formulation scientist at a pharmaceutical company; or PhD with 1 year in the same role.
- Experience (industry):
- Design development and leading projects for multi-particulate systems (mini tablets/drug layering), modified release formulations with ASD, bi-layer/tri-layer tablets, and other nonconventional oral delivery systems.
- Managing clinical supply manufacturing and activities supporting clinical studies at different stages.
- Performing GMP activities for documentation and manufacturing.
- Supporting regulatory filings (authorizing, reviewing, approving).
- Conducting DOE and statistical analysis for drug product development.
- Using PBPK modeling to guide formulation development.
- Work experience may be gained concurrently; reasonable combinations of education/training/work experience accepted.
