Role Summary

Principal Project Manager for Capital Project Program Delivery responsible for managing and executing capital projects, including delivering Biogen’s new Corporate Headquarters by 2028. Oversees program scope, schedule, and budget from detailed design to project closeout, ensuring alignment with global best practices. Leads cross-functional teams to support financial and accounting audits and operational excellence. Hybrid role based at the headquarters in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop business cases, scope, cost estimates, budgets, schedule, and project risk assessments.
  • Manage all aspects of the program, including budget, schedule, engineering, construction, coordination, and safety.
  • Align project requirements, goals, and objectives with stakeholders and project sponsors.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve project success with respect to functionality, budget, safety, quality, and schedule.
  • Oversee and onboard external contractors, engineering firms, and construction managers.
  • Ensure successful outcomes of financial and accounting audits for managed projects.
  • Assist in developing and implementing internal policies and procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Update and adhere to best practices and procedures during capital project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field (civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical) or construction management.
  • A minimum of 10 years of capital portfolio and major project management experience, including 5+ years in global pharmaceutical roles.
  • Proven project management and technical knowledge with a history of delivering compliant projects.
  • Leadership experience in a matrix capacity for capital execution teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present ideas to executive management and technical experts.
  • Advanced knowledge in HSE and GxP/QA.

Skills

  • Experience with EcoSys or similar project management tools.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management is required. Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
