- Translate business strategies, goals, and objectives into clear requirements; document problem statements with quantifiable business value
- Document βas isβ and βto beβ business processes; identify, verify, and document functional and non-functional requirements using standard methodologies and tools
- Map information system connections and data flows between systems; identify data elements and provide data mapping and data dictionaries
- Write SQL statements to investigate data; understand data lake principles and different database types
- Maintain and prioritize the backlog of requests; ensure the development team has clarity on requirements; manage business stakeholder expectations
- Work with scientists and laboratory personnel to understand processes and suggest improvements; partner with research scientists and technical teams to define system goals and requirements
- Pursue data quality issues to root cause; collaborate with business and IT partners
- Handle varied tasks, solve problems with complex variables, and shift priorities in a fast-paced research environment
- Test solutions with stakeholders for accuracy and consistency of results
This Role Requires
- Masterβs degree in a life science with experience in computer science or information technology
- 7+ years of experience in a research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or scientific laboratory environment
- Required: biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry experience; adept with tools such as Laboratory Information Management Systems, SQL databases, and data/process modeling frameworks to perform business analysis, elicit/document requirements, map data flows, and drive data quality improvements
- Preferred: drug discovery program management; biological laboratory techniques; bioinformatics methods; relational database concepts; IT project and software development lifecycle methodologies; managing/leading software development projects
