POSITION SUMMARY
- Provides technical support for assigned accounts within Zoetis Pork.
- Pork Technical Services Veterinarian provides technical expertise for Strategic Pork Producer Accounts, Veterinary Accounts, and prospect accounts.
- Works with the account manager to develop strategic account plans to maximize Zoetis sales.
- Trusted business partner responsible for understanding the customer’s business model.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (under general supervision)
- Call on pork producers, veterinarians, dealers, consultants, and distributor representatives to provide scientific support.
- Provide technical training/education within the Zoetis pork business unit.
- Offer sound technical advice and act as a resource for inquiries.
- Provide solutions for animal health and production issues based on customer needs.
- Apply veterinary solutions to customer needs and promote long-term relationships with Zoetis.
- Build and maintain relationships with key industry leaders (veterinarians, nutritionists, extension/university personnel, pork processors, consultants).
- Partner with Area Business Manager(s) to develop/execute the Area Operations Plan.
- Develop strategies focused on targeted, critical accounts.
- Support customer-focused business development plans and growth opportunities; allocate resources for high-potential customers.
- Contribute to team selling via coordinated call cycles and appropriate account follow-up.
- Deliver educational training to internal/external audiences using tools (e.g., PowerPoint).
- Advise Learning and Development on technical training content as required; provide specialty support as directed.
- Participate in special projects and tactical implementation (e.g., reviewing materials, product launch teams, support for VMIs/Product Support).
- Provide accurate, timely documentation of activities and customer interactions.
- Manage STOMP diagnostic budget and report diagnostic outcomes.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Qualifications
- DVM degree (or equivalent)
- Two (2) years post-doctoral experience in clinical practice, academia, research, or industry
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Current in assigned areas of veterinary medicine and pork production management
- Strong communication skills (oral/written/interpersonal)
- Proficient computer skills (MS Office and ability to learn internal systems)
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years private practice experience
- Demonstrated veterinary practice management, strategy execution, and leadership
- Good judgment; thoughtful and fair decision-making
- Research experience; published scientific papers
- Strategic thinking/acting
- Extensive knowledge of Zoetis pork products and animal health industry (or ability to learn quickly)
- Ability to influence senior management/peers/other functions
- Multilingual (particularly Spanish and English)
PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to drive across defined geography (producer, clinic, processing facilities)
- Ideal candidate located in Ohio or Indiana
