Role Summary
The Senior Operations Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in the day-to-day operations of the plasma donor center. As a senior frontline leader, this role is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of donor floor operations, supervising staff, and supporting compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The Senior Operations Supervisor acts as a lead resource during shifts, ensures execution of operational priorities, and provides direct support to the Center Manager in driving performance, donor satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Acts as acting leader in the absence of the Center Manager; can fulfill the role of production employees and supervisor to manage donor flow.
- Oversees donor operations and supervises Operation Supervisors and donor center staff during assigned shifts, including shift leadership, staffing coordination, task assignments, break schedules, and coaching.
- Creates employee schedules to accommodate donor cycles.
- Determines the adequacy and adjusts inventory levels of all goods and supplies necessary for the operation of the donor center; compiles and submits orders to vendors as needed.
- Keeps Center Manager informed of irregularities and provides action plans to improve center deficiencies.
- Supports and executes daily operational plans to achieve center performance targets related to donor throughput, quality, and productivity.
- Partners with the Center Manager and Quality team to identify and resolve deviations or operational concerns in real time.
- Monitors donor flow and proactively address delays or service issues to ensure an exceptional donor experience.
- Learns and maintains familiarity and compliance with all applicable regulations, SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and internal procedures.
- Supervises donor selection, plasma collection, and manufacturing records to maintain production standards in accordance with regulations.
- Attends required training sessions and staff meetings; ensures thorough documentation of necessary records.
- Maintains facility cleanliness and ensures equipment is in good working order under the Center Managerβs guidance.
- Submits timely and accurate reports as required by the Center Manager.
- Assists in the control of center donor funds as determined by the Center Manager.
- Participates in onboarding, training, and cross-training of staff to support center agility and performance.
- Maintains active communication with other service areas to ensure accurate documentation and quality.
- Leads by example to promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability; reports unsafe situations to appropriate leadership.
- May be trained to repair plasma center equipment.
- Assists the Center Manager in any task necessary to pursue company objectives.
Qualifications
- Experience: Typically requires 6 years of related experience in phlebotomy, donor processing, and plasma processing with demonstrated proficiency in handling difficult situations.
- Equivalency: Directly related experience or a combination of related education and experience may be considered in place of the stated requirements.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Exceptional customer service; proficient in speaking and writing English, with legible handwriting; bilingual skills where applicable; ability to understand, explain, and follow SOPs and protocols; ability to work flexible scheduling; ability to operate in a highly regulated, operations-intensive, high-volume medical environment with emphasis on donor safety and product quality.
Education
- High school diploma or GED. CPR Certified. Certifications as a Phlebotomist, Donor Center Technician, Plasma Processor, and Designated Trainer.

Additional Requirements
- Location: College Station, TX area (USA). This role is based in a plasma center environment.
- Physical demands: Standing 4β6 hours per day with periods of sitting; frequent bending and twisting; frequent hand use; lifting up to 50 lbs; ability to reach; PPE required as appropriate; hearing and vision requirements.
- Occupational Demands: Exposure to biological fluids and infectious materials; exposure to electrical equipment; exposure to extreme cold in plasma freezers; must wear protective gear as required.
