Role Summary
The Inventory Planner will be responsible for providing procurement planning and logistical support to the Bioscience Laboratories Irvine (BLI) Manufacturing department in accordance with all corporate standards, FDA & CDC regulations, and emerging trends within industry.
Responsibilities
- Perform procurement planning to ensure materials are readily available for manufacturing activities.
- Monitor inventory levels, analyze usage patterns, and adjust orders to prevent shortages or overstock.
- Create and firm up purchase requisitions and orders at a daily operations level (follow-up, shipment planning, document review, vendor coordination).
- Evaluate suppliers, lead times, and delivery performance to ensure supply continuity and quality standards.
- Utilize ERP and planning tools to accurately track orders, shipments, and inventory movements.
- Identify process bottlenecks and recommend improvements to enhance supply chain efficiency.
- Ensure SAP data is aligned with current procedures and material data.
- Facilitate the shipping and/or receiving of materials to and from the warehouse on behalf of the department. This would include coordinating either the shipping or receipt of materials or the preparation for delivery of materials to and from the facility with focus on accuracy, efficiency and time management.
- Address problems with order flow or shipping delays, such as damaged or improperly packed goods, as well as day-to-day concerns with warehouse capacity and production deadlines. May include face-to-face, phone or email interactions with vendors and contractors.
- Ensure proper documentation for all activities performed, following BLI SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Review and revise procurement and logistics SOPs (as necessary).
- Issue out materials to the manufacturing department for use during batch production.
Qualifications
- BachelorβΓΓ΄s degree or equivalent and minimum of three (3) or more years of experience, preferably in pharmaceuticals or Biotech industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three (3) or more years of experience, preferably in pharmaceuticals or Biotech industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a GMP regulated environment, with a preference for this experience coming within aseptic manufacturing.
- Experience in manufacturing supply chain planning or related discipline preferred.
- Highly organized and able to multi-task.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in planning software and ERP (SAP) systems.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to follow and implement procurement, shipping and inventory maintenance procedures.
- Able to work in controlled environment and function effectively as a team member.
- Must be computer proficient
- Able to use initiative in problem-solving.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work under limited supervision.
