Role Summary

Phlebotomist in Rock Hill, SC. You will assist in determining donor suitability, build rapport with donors to ensure customer satisfaction and donor confidentiality, respond to donor reactions, monitor donor health and equipment, and set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, a flexible schedule, and relevant licensures or certifications where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in determining the suitability of donors.
  • Establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while ensuring donor confidentiality.
  • Respond to and assist with handling donor reactions.
  • Monitor donor and equipment to ensure health of donors and quality of product.
  • Set up, disconnect, and operate the automated plasmapheresis machines.
  • Disconnects and disposes of all contaminated disposable equipment.

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms.
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment.
  • Exposure to extreme cold below 32 degrees F while working in a plasma freezer.
  • Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments, gloves and cold-gear.
  • Work is performed standing for 6 to 8 hours per day; bending and twisting neck and waist for 1-2 hours per day.
  • Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists; ability to make precise coordinated movements.
  • Frequent foot movement; may infrequently squat, crouch or sit on one's heels. May walk up to 6-8 hours per day.
  • Light lifting of 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
  • Hearing acuity essential and vision requirements (color perception/discrimination; near and far vision) may require corrective measures.
