Role Summary

Phlebotomist in a plasma center responsible for donor suitability, building rapport with donors and ensuring confidentiality, responding to donor reactions, and monitoring donor health and equipment. You will set up, disconnect, and operate automated plasmapheresis machines to ensure product quality. Location: Newark, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in determining the suitability of donors.
  • Establish rapport with donors to ensure overall customer happiness while ensuring donor confidentiality.
  • Respond to and assist with handling donor reactions.
  • Monitor donor and equipment to ensure health of donors and quality of product.
  • Set up, disconnect, and operate the automated plasmapheresis machines.
  • Disconnect and dispose of all contaminated disposable equipment.

Additional Requirements

  • Work is performed in a plasma center with potential exposure to biological fluids and infectious organisms.
  • Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment; PPE required (protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear).
  • Standing for 6 to 8 hours per day; bending and twisting neck and waist for 1–2 hours per day; frequent hand movements and fine motor activity; ability to grasp and manipulate objects.
  • May walk up to 6–8 hours per day; light lifting of 15 lbs with a maximum lift of 50 lbs; may reach below shoulder height.
  • Hearing acuity essential; color perception and near/far vision as specified; ability to follow and understand instructions and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
